These articles provide information on the tragic events surrounding the massive Lowell Gas Company Explosion that occurred on February 9, 1972 at 10:30 P.M.

A firefighter was killed in the line of duty and many others were very seriously injured.   Events such as this serve as constant reminders of the dangers associated with being a Firefighter or Police Officer, even in our small Town of Tewksbury.   We are most grateful to the brave men and women who are always ready to come to our rescue.
