The Cyril Barker collection represents hundreds of newspaper articles collected during the years Mr. Barker was Tewksbury's Police Chief.

Chief Barker became a member of the Tewksbury Police Department on June 29, 1929.  Mr. Barker rose through the ranks and became Chief of Police in February of 1934 and held that position until October 11, 1952.  Mr. Barker is remembered as a well respected and popular resident of our town.

We are in the process of sorting through the hundreds of newspaper articles about Chief Barker and the interesting and newsworthy events that took place in our town between 1929 and the mid 1950s.   We will continue to put them here on our website as time permits.

This picture of Chief Barker was taken in 1935.
